Absolute FURY!
But it was only a dream. Honestly, yes, it was, and completely irrational, but in the big picture it definitely was dealing with some of the BS from work that I (used to) get mad about. Right now, I'm probably safe from caring even about this, though.
Two of the other management crew apparently decided to clear out the detritus from our collection in the middle of the night. I had closed the for the night with one of them and she didn't mention it, then I couldn't get the building locked up because we had contractors building something in the Reference area (sorta) and they left an outside door ajar and lights on. There was a (not IRL) door out of the Reading Room and that's how I left the building. None of this was anything problematic except there were only three staff there at closing which is all kinds of problematic.
There was a lot of extraneous faffing about outside at this point, eventually I got home (more idiocy there), and realized I'd left something at work. I did some more faffing about on the way back, but when I got there that non-existent door was unlocked and I walked in to find Techie Librarian and Book Clubber along with a bunch of Friends' volunteers gleefully dumping card catalog (!!) drawers and piles of books.
My "office" had also been reduced to a cubicle with carts around it. All the walls in the area were gone, just a line of cubicles for staff out on the floor next to the public. I wasn't upset about that, so apparently that was all I had in this particular dream. Not great.
I was so angry. Not only because of the willy-nilly joy they were all taking in trashing the collection, but because it was being done at midnight with only one email 'warning' the day before. Which I hadn't seen. <--this is where reality actually appeared in the dream--so much of what happens there tends to happen on a whim, usually without discussion among the managers. It's gotten better over the more recent years, but OMG it's infuriating. This is also the part where I'm sure I wouldn't even blink if this happened tomorrow at work because I just don't care as long as it doesn't directly involve me.
(This would involve me and my staff in reality, though: all those books need to be removed from the catalog and disposed of, so I really should have been involved in the planning.)
So I woke up as I stormed out of the building (same door). I haven't been angry like that at work in a really long time, so that's a good thing.
And then I scrolled through Reddit and Bored Panda till my blood pressure re-regulated.
